Rapid Runway Repair Fiberglass Mat
System
The Mobile Rapid Runway Repair (RRR) Fiberglass
Mat System provides
the equipment to cover repaired bomb craters and/or wearing surfaces on
airfield operating surfaces. The
principal system component is the 30 by 54 foot (9.14 by 16.46 meters)
fiberglass mat, which can be used singly or joined together to form a 60 by 54
(18.29 by 16.46 meters) foot mat, as a foreign object damage (FOD) cover and
wear surface for the repaired crater.
The mat is placed over the repaired crater and fastened to the runway
surface with anchor bolts.
The RRR Mat System is the first truly
inexpensive and Mobile
Rapid Runway Repair System utilizing modern composite materials and fabrication
techniques! TANKINETICS is the only
manufacturer of operational fiberglass mats used by the United States Air
Force, being deployed at every major U.S. installation World Wide.
The RRR Mat System has a 15 year
storage life and
consists of everything needed for Rapid Runway Repair including all necessary
air tools, bushings, anchor bolts and hand tools.
Maximum Coverage
When deployed,
each mat measures 30 by 54 foot (9.14 by 16.46 meters) and is made up of a
series of 9 panels each 6 x 30 feet (1.83 by 9.14 meters), connected by a
unique elastomer hinge. By joining two
or more mats together, the Mobile Rapid Runway Repair System can repair almost
any sized crater.
Versatility
The Mobile
Rapid Runway Repair mat is less than a quarter of an inch thick. Additionally, it’s weight is only two pounds
per square foot, versus a burdensome six pounds per square foot for the AM-2
aluminum mat.
Although the
Mobile Rapid Runway Repair Mat System was designed to support tactical aircraft
operations, it may also be used by cargo aircraft to a limited extent. It is also well suited for repairs to
taxiways, apron areas, helipads and any other road surfaces.
